Cengage Learning Marketing Manager – National Geographic Learning in Monterey, California
The Marketing Manager works closely with the math and science product marketing team using product knowledge to facilitate the timely and effective implementation of NGL product marketing strategies and plans, including e-marketing, direct mail, state and key district campaigns, advertising and sales support activities/materials. Under the direction of the Director of Product Marketing, the Marketing Manager works with sales and marketing groups to devise strategic plans and schedules to support their revenue objectives. Working with other marketing groups, other company departments, and/or outside vendors, the Marketing Manager then coordinates and drives the execution of those marking actions, analyzes and reports on effectiveness, tracks process and expenses against timelines and budgets, and codes and processes related invoices
Plans, schedules, tracks, and coordinates the development and deployment of marketing and promotional actions, campaigns, materials, and other implementations as defined in seasonal marketing plan on time and within budget
Initiates and/or completes state adoption forms and questionnaires as needed
Conducts and/or participates in sales trainings as well as sales, exhibit, and other presentations as required.
Supports the field sales effort by managing and coordinating the timely response to regional/local opportunities requested through the Regional Sales Directors, as well as in targeted adoption campaigns.
Calls/runs required brainstorming, planning, and progress meetings to formulate effective strategic and tactical solutions in support of marketing objectives, and secures agreements on process, timeline, budget, approvals, response goals, etc. that are then tracked and managed as the solution is implemented.
Tracks, monitors, and regularly reports on project status and results for the Marketing Department as a whole.
Develop creative materials and campaigns for national and/or regional conferences, participating in presenting, marketing programs at conferences as assigned.
Coordinates efforts within Marketing (including Product Management, Sampling/Promo Inventory, Exhibits/Events, Design, and Technology Services) groups to streamline processes, realize economies/efficiencies, and maximize effectiveness by integrating marketing efforts.
3+ years’ experience in Product Marketing or Marketing
Excellent written and presentation skills as well as speaking with customers
Evidence of strong writing skills and ability to form and build effective sales tools
Ability to travel overnight, approximately 10-20%; must be able to travel by both auto and air
Experience in educational publishing or marketing
3+ years of related experience in marketing, training or presenting, particularly in a publishing environment
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (PC) and Adobe PDF files
